SYNOPSIS Following UNESCO’s recognition of the Pyrenean summer solstice fire festivals as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, residents of the small Aragonese Pyrenean villages where this ancient tradition is observed face the challenges posed by its popularity and the influx of thousands of tourists—developments that could alter not only the essence of the festival but also the way the locals relate to one another, to their community, and to nature.
